- Bob Newton -

Graduating from University of Puget Sound in 1958 with a BA in Education then to a full teaching career in University Place School District at the junior and senior high school, has given Bob Newton the background and inspiration to follow his second love, photography. Bob married his loving wife in 1970 and raised a “Brady Bunch” of two girls and two boys from their previous lives. He retired in 1992 and his wife, Barbara retired in 1993 to take on the anticipated “Golden Years” of travel and recreation in their new found RV life. The camera was always an important accessory starting with a Kodak Signet shooting 35 mm slides in 1953 to Minoltas and finally to Canons and digital imagery at the present time. Digital cameras opened up the creative side of photography for Bob, as he loves to experiment using the computer and its ability to build a new and original creation from that maybe-not-to-interesting image. Having taught English, art and pottery, Bob used this experience to look for the interesting designs of nature and all the colors and shapes that could be photographed and digitally changed to produce a different image from the original. An example would be to squint and narrow the eye while looking at various shapes and forms to blur those shapes and compose a future picture before shooting. Using strong color and line are elements of design that stimulate Bob’s imagination. Many photo images have been taken while traveling throughout the western United States and visiting the Scandinavian countries along with those of Europe. It is also not uncommon to find Bob lying on his stomach focusing on the nature of things, as he continually searches for those designs in the world of nature. Bob’s photos have been shown throughout the Pacific Northwest in one man shows and photo displays from Ocean Shores, Gig Harbor, Moscow, Idaho, Seattle and Tacoma.
